Science Center

One of the things that Chad wanted to do as soon as he heard that we were going to Pittsburgh was to take the kids to the Carnegie Science Center. Chad and I both had fond memories of going there when we were younger and knew that the kids would have a blast. So the day after GG Osborn's funeral, we went to the Science Center along with Papa Mazak.

Lucas was a trooper and enjoyed just looking around at everything going on.

A view of The Point

The kids were really excited to see Heinz Field, where the Steelers play, right next to the Science Center. Ever since we were there, the kids are REALLY excited when they see the Science Center or an outdoor shot of Heinz Field during the Steelers games.

Visiting with the Mazaks in Pittsburgh

While we were in Pittsburgh, we stayed with Chad's grandparents. It was really nice to see them and to introduce them to Lucas. It happened that Alan, Gaoder, and Raina had been in Pittsburgh about 2 weeks before us, so within a very short time, GG and Papa Mazak got to see all of their great-grandchildren, which they loved!

Poor Lucas always has his brother and sister in his face. They love him, but they just can't seem to help themselves and they always want to be very close to him.

Lucas loved Papa! We joked it was because they have similar hairstyles. :)

One of many great breakfasts that we got while we were staying at GG and Papa's house.

While we were at the Mazaks, there was a little get together so that all the extended family in Pittsburgh could come over to see us. While we were getting ready, GG found some balloons. Cecilia figured out how to attach "strings" to the balloons (really the strips off of old matrix printer paper) and then both kids had a blast playing with the balloons (along with Thomas, one of their cousins, while he was there).

Lucas wasn't sure what to think of everything going on...

GG Osborn's funeral

We all flew back to Pennsylvania for GG Osborn's funeral in mid-October. While it was a sad occasion, it was nice to see so much of our family and to celebrate Grandma's long life together. While it was my mom's mom that had passed away, some of my dad's family also came to pay their respects, so we were able to catch up with them too.

One of the family members that came to the visitation and the funeral was my grandma's cousin, Sister Mildred Boeh. As you can see above, she is 102 and proud of it. She and my grandma still talked, via the computer, every Monday morning. It was really impressive to see how well they both adapted to new technology!

Here are all the cousins. We have quite a California contingent now. Danielle and her family, Kevin, Emily, and our family are all living in California now. Eric and Jo are in North Carolina, and Danny and Dean (who wasn't able to come) are in Texas.

Cecilia got my phone to take some selfies.

After the funeral, we took over tables in the lobby of the hotel most of the family was staying at to go through things from GG's apartment. We looked through and divvied up old photos, Christmas ornaments, crosses, jewelry, and of course, GG's Christmas sweaters.

Later, we went to dinner with Grammy, Paca, and Emily. We had to say goodbye to everyone there, as they were all leaving the next day and we were staying with Chad's grandparents.
