An Emotional Christmas Eve for Cecilia

Cecilia had quite the emotional day. Earlier we went sledding and over time the sled started to break apart. First Eric put a hole in it with his knee. Then, with subsequent rides, the hole got bigger and bigger. Finally we decided it was too broken to use, but Emily tried one last time. We all laughed as the sled shattered into pieces underneath Emily. But then we look over and tears are streaming down Cecilia's face. "Why did Emily break the sleeeddd?!?!"

We calmed her down by trying to sled on the radio flyer backup sled a couple times.

Then at dinner I guess she'd made a pact with Eric and Laura. If she ate three tater tots she could have the last one. I didn't know that, so by the time she was ready, I had already eaten it. Again, tears: "Daddy ate the tater tooottt!" We needed ice cream and a book to calm her down.

Then before bed she was sooo excited about Santa coming. In the bath: "I can hear sleigh bells! I can hear a red nose!" After saying goodnight to everyone: "I can hear lots of sleigh bells! 10 of them!" Then as she's tucked in: "But what if Santa doesn't bring me a present?" Urg, I didn't want to get into that. "Shut your eyes, Cecilia." "But Santa won't come unless everybody goes to sleep!" "We will, Cecilia."

Cecilia's Christmas List

Here is one entry from Cecilia's Christmas list. You may not be able to tell, but she wrote "scotch tape".

Two Christmas angels

After many years of not having a Christmas tree in our house, because we usually go back to Iowa, Cecilia and Laura decided to get a little fake tree today. I forgot how nice it is to have a room solely lit by Christmas lights.

Stool on coffee table?

What could possibly go wrong!

Grant watching fire trucks

If you donate some toys to the fire department, in return, they will take you on a fire truck ride. Here Grant is watching all the fire trucks go by.

Muir Woods with Grandma Peanut

Apparently I had this whole post written and pictures afded, but just forgot to post it. Oops! Only 2 months late...

When Grandma Peanut was here in November, we went up to Muir Woods. Unfortunately, we didn't realize that they had free admission that day (weekend perhaps?) and it was a madhouse! We had to park about twice to three times as far away as we have ever had to park before. However, once we got to the park, it was a lot of fun.

Cecilia liked seeing all of the big trees!

Grant was off an exploring!

Aww!

Walking like a dinosaur! (just like his big sister used to at this age!)

What a goof!

Cecilia (with a little help from Mommy) took these pictures of the scenery

She's pretending to be asleep here

The water was REALLY low. It seems hard to believe that salmon would be able to swim up this stream any time soon!
