Palo Alto Art and Wine Festival

We just got back from the Palo Alto arts festival where we ate crepes, roasted sweet corn, smoked turkey legs, and frozen yogurt. Oh yeah, Laura had a tuna sandwich with sprouts on a bagel.

Cecilia slept the whole time because she's been sick and sleepy but wasn't napping at home.

Cecilia's First Vacation

Sitting up!!

Today, Cecilia sat up on her own with no support. She is a little
top-heavy (she's got a big brain!!) so she still has to lean pretty
far forward and use her arms, but she is doing it. It is crazy to see
how much she grows and learns everyday! We figure that she will learn
how to crawl anytime now, probably overnight.

Grabbing for the phone

In the last week or so, Cecilia has started trying to take my phone
away from me when I take pictures of her or put her on speaker phone
to talk. This is one example of her attempts a few days ago.

"Sitting Up"

Cecilia has started leaning forwards in her baths. Today she was licking the bathwater and having a grand old time.

Sleep Training

Cecilia basically slept through the night while we were on vacation on the east coast. She would get up to eat, but she'd go right back to sleep.

When we got back to California, that changed. She started sleeping in 45-minute increments again and would want to play in the middle of the night. Laura and I decided we had to do something. We were going a little crazy.

We gave Cecilia a routine: bath at 8, read a book, sing a song, feed her, and have her down by 9 or 10. She'd usually fall asleep but then she'd wake up again a short while later.

We finally decided to try the cry it out method on Friday. Friday night was super hard. Laura slept downstairs so she didn't hear the screams (they make her nauseous). I tried to sleep in bed while Cecilia screamed bloody murder all night. She did eventually get herself to sleep for a couple hours... a small victory.

Last night went better. She only cried for a couple hours before putting herself to sleep. She had a nice long nap this afternoon so here's hoping she sleeps better tonight!

Cecilia rolled over!

Cecilia just rolled over! She's done it before, but this time it was intentional!

Already a fan!

Cecilia is showing that she is already a Steelers fan! She grabbed
onto the Steelers burp cloth and wouldn't let go. Then she got a giant
smile on her face. Her Grandpa Manor, Grammy, and Grandma Austin
will be so pleased! (Grandpa Austin would probably be more pleased if
it was a Cowboys burp cloth)

Bumbo

We got Cecilia a Bumbo on Craigslist and she didn't like it at first because we put her in it after her nap. After a but she started to like it though!
