On August 1st, we went to Monterey with Grandma Peanut, Alan, Gaoder, Raina, and Gaoder's sister Nalie. It was a fun day at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, walking around Monterey, and at Fort Ord Dunes State Park.
These two LOVE the aquarium! We are really lucky to have been able to take them there, it is an amazing place!
Lucas was a trooper! He spent a lot of time sleeping in his car seat and in my arms, but was really good and I was able to still enjoy (some of) the aquarium!
Cecilia and Grant made a new friend after we all had ice cream.
As we were leaving Monterey, we decided to stop at Fort Ord State Park so that Nalie could see the ocean before she went back to Iowa. I ended up staying in the car with Grant (who had fallen asleep before we even left the parking garage near the Aquarium) and Lucas (who I had to nurse), but everyone else made the, apparently long, trek down to the beach. To get there, they had to walk across a closed bridge over Highway 1 and some railroad tracks, and then down through the dunes.

On the way home, we stopped in Gilroy to get some produce. The kids took the opportunity to stick their heads in this garlic bulb.

Getting ice cream after dinner on Grant's birthday. The place we went makes smiley face ice cream cups for kids!
Aunt Gaoder, Uncle Alan, and Raina got Grant a fire truck potty for his birthday. He really liked it and it did help (at least a little) to motivate him to start potty training!
