To the end of July

Some more photos and videos to the end of July.

Lucas reminds me a little of Cecilia here. She used to do the "baby bird" thing when she was little too.

Grandma Peanut got us a new shower curtain. The kids had a lot of fun playing with it!

After a very frustrating day, we decided to go to Jake's for dinner.

All sacked out.

Lucas's first week

Some photos and videos from Lucas's first week.

Grandma Peanut got another chance to hold Lucas when she, Alan, Gaoder, and Raina came over with dinner for us on the 22nd before they went to SFO for their flight.

We watched Zoey while Grandma Peanut was in Richmond. Zoey was pretty sad while Grandma Peanut was gone, but she cheered up when we were playing ball with her!

No more photos Mommy!

A big sister loves her brother!

Zoey goes crazy smelling the "Bacon salt"

Cecilia and Grant LOVED watching Battle Bots!

Lucas liked sucking on Daddy's finger

Grandpa Austin's Funeral

On July 18th (2 days before Lucas was born), Chad's grandfather Austin collapsed and later died. It was a very sudden loss, as Larry was healthy and fit, so it hit everyone very hard.

Since I hadn't even had Lucas by the time the arrangements were being made for Sue, Alan, Gaoder, and Raina to fly back for the funeral, we knew that we would not be able to go to Virginia. Thankfully, I did have Lucas and we were home from the hospital before it was time them to leave to go to the funeral. If he hadn't been born yet, things would have been a lot more complicated!

Since we were not able to make it (Chad was the only grandchild that couldn't make it), we were really glad that Megan was able to stream the vigil on Friday night and the funeral on Saturday so that we could watch it and say our goodbyes from here. Afterwards, it sounds like there was a nice celebration and family get together at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Raina was a well-loved distraction for everyone

Here is a photo of all the family that was there.

Grandma with all of the grandchildren and their spouses, except for Chad and me.

These 4 are Knights of Columbus that cooked all the food for the get together.

While we weren't able to be there, we are all glad that everyone else was able to be there and celebrate Grandpa!
