Andy and Sandra's Wedding

Saturday afternoon, it was time to go to the wedding. Chad and Cecilia were supposed to meet to get ready at 4:30, but the wedding wasn't scheduled until 5:30. So I had to decide what to do with Grant for that hour. Thankfully, Sandra gave us some passes to get us into the zoo for free. We ended up getting up to the zoo a little bit early, so we all were able to go into the zoo for a little bit. But we didn't really get to see much more than the the lemurs before it was time for Chad and Cecilia to go get dressed.

Grant and I stayed in the zoo for about another 15-20 minutes and got to see more of the lemurs and the monkeys. Grant was really excited to see the animals but also seemed to be looking around for Cecilia and Daddy. So we headed back down to the conference center to change and make sure that Cecilia was ready.

After a bunch of waiting around, (because in part they decided to close the zoo at 6:00 instead of the planned 5:00 with only about 20 hours notice to Andy and Sandra) we finally were able to go down to the ceremony site. Alan, Gaoder, and I grabbed seats on the far edge of the groom's side so that Cecilia would be able to join us after she was done with her flower girl duties.

Cecilia was a cute flower girl. She got to scatter flower petals this time (versus the pomander, a ball of flowers, that she carried at Eric and Jo's wedding) and she was a little confused about how to do that. She intially started scattering the petals in the tunnel leading to the ceremony. After Daddy and Sandra told her to wait until she was out by the chairs, she stopped scattering them in the tunnel. But, probably because she was worried about what to do, she ended up not scattering any petals along the aisle until she got right in front of Andy, at which time she basically threw 2 handfuls at Andy's feet.

Plus she almost missed making the turn to go down the aisle in the middle of the chairs. Since there hadn't been any chairs set up during the rehearsal, she was confused about exactly where she was supposed to go. So Mommy and the other guests had to direct her which way to go so she wouldn't go behind all of the guests.

But she really did a great job overall. She definitely made everyone smile and laugh!

Here is a view of the wedding party. I unfortunately did not get to see much more of the wedding than this. Grant did not want to sit down and be quiet during the ceremony, so I took him to the back so that everyone else could hear. That worked for a little while, but when he decided that he did not want me to hold him anymore, I had to put him down. Then he decided that he wanted to go join Daddy up front, so I had to take him out entirely. I ended up watching the ceremony, in part, from an overlook up the hill from the ceremony. So I could see it, but could not hear anything.

But from everyone else, I heard that it was a great ceremony and it fit with Andy and Sandra's personalities.

Burning off some energy at the park before the wedding

Since we knew it would be a long day and the kids really needed to get a nap, I took them over to Nimitz on Saturday morning to let them play. They did burn off a fair bit of energy, and they both did nap, but not for as long as we had hoped they would.

Happy Birthday Chad!

Happy Birthday to one of the best husbands and dads that I know!

We love you!
