Not much jet lag - slept some on the plane

Left Monday morning for Hiroshima
Took local transportation to the Shinkansen (fast train), which we rode for about an hour to Hiroshima.
Went to the atom bomb memorial - Hiroshima is a memorial to abolition of nuclear weapons and peace.
Japanese apple juice tastes like real apples.
Ate yakisoba for lunch at the station (slash mall)
Trams are popular in Hiroshima
Spent afternoon and evening at Miyajima island - wild deer, creamsicle ice cream, rode the ropeway up the mountain and then hiked most of the rest of the way
Ate dinner at a mall near our hotel

Ate breakfast at our hotel - eggs, fish, rice, miso, fruit, milk, bread, cake
Left Tuesday morning for Kyoto
2 hour Shinkansen ride

Japanese people like miniskirts and leggings
Public transportation everywhere!
11 story mall / transportation hub, 2 floors of restaurants
Wednesday morning, ate waffles and seafood doria at the station/mall
saw Nijo-jo (castle)
visited steam locomotive museum, and rode the train
took shinkansen home (3 hours)
practiced Taiko
Ate shared soup (forget the term) at Kazumi's with some of the other ALTs
Japan has no trash cans
Tiny keicars
Everyone drives in the alleys
Shower is crazy - you have to crank it up
